The Carneades argument mapping application requires Java, Version 6.
Mac users: Version 6 of Java is available currently only for Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) on 64-bit Intel Macs. See Apple's Java download page for up to date information about supported platforms.
To start the argument mapping application, just click on the yellow "launch" button below. The application is signed with a digital signature, because it opens and saves files on locally on your computer. After starting the application for the first time, a local copy is stored on your computer, allowing you to use it even when you are not online. When you start the application while you are online, the application will check whether there is a new version and, if so, download and install the new version automatically from the server.

Warning: In this version, using command-q or control-q to quit the application will do so without asking you whether you would like to save your work. Please be sure to save your work before quitting. We will fix this as soon as possible.
Current and prior versions of the Carneades sources, including both the Java FX sources of the argument mapping application and the Scheme libraries implementing the Carneades inference engine, are available via SVN from Berlios and via Bazaar on Launchpad. The inference engines require a Scheme system compliant with the latest R6RS standard. Currently supported R6RS implementations of Scheme include PLT Scheme, Ikarus and Ypsilon.
